Howard University President Wayne A.I. Frederick gives an update after the virtual Parent and Student Town Hall held on August 15, 2023.
Parent and student town hall on Tuesday, August 15 to discuss recent acts of violence near campus
Currently, Bison move-in will continue as regularly scheduled at all residential facilities for new and returning students and their families. Logistics for road closures and parking remain as published.
Howard University will close at 3:45 pm in preparation for severe weather in the area. This decision follows our operational standard of prioritizing the safety of students, employees, and guests at all times.
If weather changes as expected, we will suspend move-in activity for the remainder of the day for all students and families.
I am writing to express my deep thanks and gratitude to Dean Phylicia Rashad of the Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts, as she has informed me that she will be stepping down as dean at the end of her term following the 2023-2024 year.
Move-in is scheduled for August 7-20 and is expected to bring a high volume of excitement and enthusiasm to campus, along with increased density in vehicular and foot traffic.
We are excited to welcome all of our new and returning Bison to the campus for the start of the 2023-24 academic year.
It is our highest priority to make sure that you are aware of the campus safety standards for our living and learning environment.
Gracie Lawson-Borders, PhD, dean of the Cathy Hughes School of Communications (CHSOC), will depart the position at the culmination of the 2023-2024 academic year. The University will promptly launch a national decanal search for the CHSOC.
