Spring 2022 President State Of The University Address
Dear Howard University Community,
President Wayne A. I. Frederick will give the Spring 2022 State of the University Address on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. As a part of the address, he will also host a live question-and-answer session with student, alumni and faculty representatives. The event will take place in the School of Business auditorium in front of a small live audience and will also be livestreamed on the Howard University YouTube channel.
2022 Charter Day Convocation Orator
Gregory W. Meeks, who represents New York’s 5th district in the United States Congress, serves as Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and is a senior member of the House Financial Services Committee. First elected to Congress in 1998, Rep. Meeks is a multilateralist with decades of experience in foreign policy.
D.C. Convoy Protests Advisory
Federal and local law enforcement agencies have issued a standing alert for the Washington metropolitan area in advance of expected protests in the region. Convoys of professional truck drivers and protestors are expected to arrive in the area in the coming days in advance of the State of the Union address, scheduled for Tuesday, March 1.

Active Shooter, Active Threats Training - Feb. 15
The Department of Public Safety will offer an active shooter and active threats training session on Tuesday, February 15 in the College Hall South Auditorium from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Small Electrical Fire - College Hall South
At approximately 4:30 a.m., D.C. Fire officials were notified of a fire alarm in College Hall South. An investigation reveals that a resident using a labeled out-of-order dryer caused a small electrical fire in a laundry room and a resulting evacuation of all students.

Announcing Campus Closure for Mental Health Day
Recent events, from the persistence of the COVID-19 pandemic to the multiple bomb threats issued against our institution, have taken a toll on all members of our community. I am grateful for all the messages of support I know that we have received from friends, family and advocates of our University who live around the world during these difficult times. In recognition of the additional challenges that have been heaped upon our shoulders, Howard University will close on Friday, February 4 and will reopen for normal operations on Monday, February 7.
