WASHINGTON – Recent Howard University graduates, Kendall Hamilton and Nana Yeboah, won a chance of a lifetime by showcasing their best in a media, planning and buying course offered in the Cathy Hughes School of Communications during the Fall 2018 semester. The course was in partnership with FOX Sports University and the former students were challenged with delivering a media plan for Q Ball, the newest documentary in FOX Sports Film’s MAGNIFY series. It is executive produced by Golden State Warriors All-Star Kevin Durant and FOX Sports Films’ Executive Producer and Director Michael Tolagian.
Upon winning, Hamilton and Yeboah were invited to the FOX Studio Lot in Los Angeles for a special screening of Q Ball. They were provided accommodations to California, courtesy of FOX Sports University.
“Working with Fox Sports University made my media, planning, and buying course unlike any other. I gained valuable, real-world experience while cultivating meaningful relationships and expanding my portfolio,” said Hamilton, a 2019 graduate who earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and strategic communications. “As I embark upon my graduate studies, FOX Sports University has helped me to feel more prepared academically and professionally!”
In October 2018, Hamilton, Yeboah and their classmates were challenged by FOX Sports to develop strategic media plans around the release of Q Ball. Throughout the semester, the class received guidance and feedback from FOX Sports representatives and had the opportunity to attend the D.C. premiere of another FOX Sports Films MAGNIFY documentary, They Fight. The class presented their final senior projects in December 2018. The original film team in Los Angeles helped to determine the winners.
Throughout their visit in Los Angeles, Hamilton and Yeboah toured the studios and met with Q Ball Executive Producer and Director Michael Tolajian. They also met with a number of FOX Sports members, including Neal Scarborough , an executive editor; Howard Alumni Damu Bobb, a segment producer; and Joseph Gray, a staff editor.
