The sun poured down on the Yard as students and alumni gathered for the first time in three years for Yardfest, Howard’s cherished tradition, on October 21, 2022. Complete with a live stage in front of Founders’ Library, food booths, merchandise and more, the Yard was filled with people, barbecue smoke, celebrities, and Bison spirit.

The festival itself featured a diverse range of artists and entertainment, including R&B duo Chloe X Halle through a partnership with Neutrogena. Chloe and Halle Bailey participated in a Bison Family Battle by Neutrogena, a special game show where the duo and a group of Howard students competed for prizes. Other featured artists included DJ Jae Murphy (BA ’12), rapper Flo Milli, rapper GloRilla, R&B singer Jacquees, and rapper Symba. Pro footballer Cam Newton warmed up the crowd to kick off Yardfest, and Jerry Greenfield, co-founder of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, also made an appearance at the Ben & Jerry’s booth to hand out free ice cream.
