Howard Celebrates Yardfest for First Time Since Pandemic

Yardfest

The sun poured down on the Yard as students and alumni gathered for the first time in three years for Yardfest, Howard’s cherished tradition, on October 21, 2022. Complete with a live stage in front of Founders’ Library, food booths, merchandise and more, the Yard was filled with people, barbecue smoke, celebrities, and Bison spirit.

The festival itself featured a diverse range of artists and entertainment, including R&B duo Chloe X Halle through a partnership with Neutrogena. Chloe and Halle Bailey participated in a Bison Family Battle by Neutrogena, a special game show where the duo and a group of Howard students competed for prizes. Other featured artists included DJ Jae Murphy (BA ’12), rapper Flo Milli, rapper GloRilla, R&B singer Jacquees, and rapper Symba. Pro footballer Cam Newton warmed up the crowd to kick off Yardfest, and Jerry Greenfield, co-founder of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, also made an appearance at the Ben & Jerry’s booth to hand out free ice cream.
