WASHINGTON – The Office of Alumni Relations at Howard University will resume the Bison Roundtable series in an upcoming event highlighting the experiences of women in advance of Women’s History Month. Forward Thinking: A Bison Roundtable on Women’s Empowerment will be held via Zoom at noon on Friday, February 26. The event will feature Howard University women leaders across campus and special guest Nicole Monson (JD ’01), senior vice president and deputy general counsel for The Estée Lauder Companies, Inc., who also serves as the executive sponsor for She’s Howard: Own Your Power, a first-of-its-kind program specifically for Howard alumnae. Registration is currently open.
“This rendition of the Bison Roundtable is extra special to me because of the focus on women’s empowerment,” said Sharon Strange Lewis, director of alumni relations. “As a university, we are really looking at the unique experiences of women and investing in ways to engage women’s issues through research and programming. The launch of She’s Howard: Own Your Power, our new program designed to create a safe space for the personal and professional development of Howard alumnae, and the new Center for Women, Gender and Global Leadership, led by Dr. J. Jarpa Dawuni, are just two of the efforts that alumni will have a chance to learn about during the event. I look forward to gathering with the Howard community to listen and learn from women across the University.”
Four Howard University women will share their personal stories, strategies and opportunities to inspire and encourage others during the event. Information on each of the panelists is provided below:
