Howard University to Host Virtual Accepted Student Day

WASHINGTON – Howard University’s annual Accepted Student Day (ASD) is going virtual with invitations to more than 9,200 students to learn more about what Howard has to offer on Friday, April 17. ASD is an opportunity for accepted students to get a sneak peek into what the University has to offer academically and culturally before enrolling in the upcoming academic year.

“Although we will miss seeing everyone in person on campus this year, the health, safety and well-being of our students, future scholars, parents, faculty and staff is our primary concern,” said President Wayne A. I. Frederick. “I’m excited to connect via technology through our first-ever virtual Accepted Student Day at Howard University. I believe the presentations from our dynamic administration, deans and staff will further solidify why Howard is the right choice at the right time for these talented students.”

All participants will be able to be able to access the program live or via recorded sessions that will be made available after ASD. President Frederick will be among the speakers to greet all participants and kick-start the day. Later, students will break out into information sessions with their respective undergraduate school or college. The program will also include information sessions on financial aid, residence life, academic and professional development resources, among others.

“Over the last few weeks, our team has diligently worked to transition our ASD program into an interactive virtual environment for our admitted students. We value and appreciate that the Class of 2024 wants to continue their studies at Howard University, and do look forward to engaging with them on April 17th,” said Associate Provost and Assistant Vice-President of Enrollment Management, Anthony E. Jones.

Over the past 153 years, Howard University has awarded more than 120,000 degrees to students from all 50 states and more than 160 countries. The University is committed to “Excellence in Truth and Service,” which is evident in the success of its scholars, including one Schwarzman Scholar, three Marshall Scholars, four Rhodes Scholars, 11 Truman Scholars, 25 Pickering Fellows and more than 70 Fulbright Scholars. No other institution has produced more baccalaureate, graduate, and professional, or doctorate degrees to people of African descent than Howard University.

Those students who attend the virtual Accepted Student Day and go on to commit to Howard and enroll in the Fall will become a part of a storied legacy of Bison leaders.

“As we host ASD to our Howard-elect students and their families watching around the world, we hope that they feel welcomed, get their questions answered, and accept our offer for them to become a Bison in the upcoming academic year,” said Jones. “The Howard community is excited to welcome the next generation of world leaders to join the ranks of Howard University scholars.”
