Howard University Announces 2018 Homecoming Day of Service Initiatives

WASHINGTON (October 17, 2018) — Howard University’s 2018 Homecoming Day of Service will be held Oct. 20 and includes service-learning opportunities at seven locations across Washington, DC. This year, the Day of Service will include volunteer opportunities in the following service areas: homelessness and food insecurity; community beautification; health; education; elder care; and violence prevention

“The Homecoming Day of Service is a valuable opportunity to display our commitment to the university tenets of truth and service,” says Rev. Bernard L. Richardson, Ph.D., Dean of the Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel at Howard University. “As we head into the celebration of our university’s Homecoming, we encourage students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the university to locate an opportunity to serve their community in honor of the university’s legacy and continued values.”

Homecoming Day of Service will begin with check-in at Burr Gymnasium at 8:00 am. Current students, faculty, and staff are asked to register for service projects coordinated by Howard University. In order to participate, you must register in advance of the Day of Service.
