April is HU Research Month

Howard University solidifies its position as a top-tier U.S. research institution.

Howard University student presents research at fair

WASHINGTON - The Office of Research will host HU Research Month with a series of events throughout April. During Research Month, the Howard community will celebrate the tremendous, interdisciplinary research conducted by Howard faculty, undergraduate and graduate students, and research staff. The events also honor the University’s extraordinary achievements in meeting institutional goals in sponsored research.

The widely acclaimed Research Symposium will be on April 25 – 26 in the Interdisciplinary Research Building (IRB). During this signature event, faculty, students, and research staff will discuss their research findings with members of the Howard community, external constituents, and supporters from various federal and local agencies as well as representatives of the philanthropic and higher education community.

Howard University remains on track to becoming an R1 Research University, a recognition that would further increase cutting-edge research opportunities at the University. In 2022, the University exceeded its own campus-wide research goal of raising $100 million in sponsored research activity; the achievement came two years earlier than projected. Last year, Howard University solidified a five-year, $90 million contract with the Department of Defense to establish the agency’s 15th University Affiliated Research Center
