In April, we notified you of our continued journey with Workday through the implementation of a new Student Information System (SIS). We highlighted some key benefits we anticipate with this implementation, which include improved access to data to serve students in real-time, one system of record which will increase collaboration between departments, automation of manual processes, and the ability for departments to generate reports to support their day-to-day activities and departmental needs.
Today, we would like to introduce you to the project team members and give you a brief description of the work they have been doing and will continue to do throughout the project. We are also providing you with an overview of the project’s timeline, key milestones, and iterative release process, which is very different from our experience with the Workday Platform go-live last summer.
The project team is comprised of subject matter experts in the targeted functional areas – Academic Advising and Curriculum, Academic Foundation and Student Records, Financial Aid, Recruiting and Admissions, and Student Finance and the technical areas of Data Conversion, Integrations, Reporting, and Security. Additionally, our executive sponsor - President Frederick, project sponsors - Dr. Dubroy and Dr. Wutoh, and project director - Ms. Osaghae. Finally, I am joined by Dr. Awuonda, Ms. McClung, and Ms. Pluff on the Organizational Change Management (OCM) team. Our OCM team is focused on ensuring that we are preparing you for this transformational change with opportunities to acquire new knowledge and build new skills to be successful in the new SIS. See the attached document for the entire project team and descriptions.
The timeline for the Workday Student project is iterative, meaning it has multiple go-live dates. These go-live dates have been carefully selected to support the new functionality, mitigate disruption to current students and processes, and align with our Academic Calendar. More details are provided in the attached graphic.
We look forward to engaging with you over the next several months to raise your awareness of the project and the system. Later this summer, you will receive an invitation to our Fall 2022 Workday Townhall. In the meantime, if you have any questions or would like further information, please, reach out to us at workday@howard.edu. Thank you for your continued commitment as we move Howard forward.
