Sequence & timing
The changeover will begin at the College of Medicine and the College of Dentistry. From there, the team will proceed north across campus, converting buildings in sequence. Because of their operational needs, Blackburn, Cramton, and Burr Gymnasium will be addressed last. Weather permitting, the work will follow this route, and we will communicate if conditions require adjustments.
Why do we only change over once
Most campus systems cannot switch between cooling and heating without major reconfiguration. To choose the optimal window, PFM tracks the 14-day trend for highs and lows. When average highs reach the mid-60s and average lows the mid-40s, we initiate changeover. Because this work is resource-intensive and affects equipment life, we perform it once per season.
What to expect & what you can do
Temperatures can fluctuate during fall transition weeks; be conscious as you select your attire. Personal space heaters and individual AC units are not permitted. Please keep exterior doors and interior fire doors closed for safety and system performance. If you experience extreme temperatures or a non-functioning unit in an office, classroom, or residence, please submit a work order here: PFM/CBRE Service Insight Work Order.
