Operational Status: VIRTUAL OPERATIONS/REMOTE INSTRUCTION (beginning at Noon)

Howard University's Main and West Campuses will close at Noon on March 16, 2026.

The Univeristy will update its operational status for Monday, March 16, 2026, to VIRTUAL OPERATIONS/REMOTE INSTRUCTION beginning at Noon. Campuses will open for normal operations, and will transition to virtual operations/remote instruction at Noon.

• Essential Employees: Essential employees must report to campus.
• Building Access: All campus buildings will be secured and locked after Noon. Essential employees needing help accessing buildings should contact the Department of Public Safety (DPS). Researchers will continue to have access to research facilities. However, researchers must be aware that parking restrictions will be in place, and some parking lots will be closed.

Instruction: 

• All in-person classes: will transition to remote instruction at 12:00 p.m. (as applicable).
• Remote classes: will continue as scheduled.

*Note that students and employees in the College of Medicine, the College of Dentistry, the School of Law, and clinics should follow the policy set by their respective departments.

• Howard University Hospital: OPEN
• Faculty Practice Plan: OPEN   
• Student Health Center: CLOSING at 12 p.m.   

University Libraries: 

• Founders Library: CLOSING at 12 p.m.   
• Louis Stokes Health Sciences Library: CLOSING at 12 p.m.    
• Vernon E. Jordan Jr. Law Library: CLOSING at 12 p.m.   
• Wayne A. I. Frederick Undergraduate Library: CLOSING at 12 p.m.     

Dining: 

• Bethune Annex Cafeteria: Open 7:00 am - 2:00 p.m. (To-go options for lunch and dinner available for pick-up from 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.)
• Bison Brew: OPEN 7:00 am - 2:00 p.m. 
• The Market at Bethune Annex:  OPEN 7:00 am - 2:00 p.m. 
• The Market at Towers West: OPEN 7:00 am - 2:00 p.m.
