Dear Howard University Community,
University administrators were pleased to host last night's virtual Public Safety Town Hall as part of our commitment to keep the lines of communication between the University, students, and parents open. You can find the recording here.
As stated by Provost Anthony K. Wutoh, PhD, RPh, Howard University is of the community, not above it. For 156 years, we have embraced our responsibility to serve our surrounding neighborhoods. We realize the significant role Howard University plays in the District, throughout the nation and around the world. With this reason, we will continue to have an open campus, reinforcing our storied relationship with the local community.
We are cognizant of the realities that many college campuses in urban environments are facing. We are steadfast in our efforts to continually evaluate and enhance our public safety plans to maintain the safety and well-being of our Howard University community, which is our primary goal.
We appreciate the thoughtful questions raised by those who joined us and your patience and understanding as we work with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) to develop and implement public safety measures that safeguard our campus and the surrounding communities here in the District of Columbia.
Again, we thank you for your time and understanding and look forward to staying engaged and working together to protect the Herd.
Excellence in Truth and Service,
Office of University Communications
