New Appointment - Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs

Dear Howard University Community, 

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Rajni Goel, Ph.D., as associate provost for faculty affairs in the Office of the Provost. In this role, Dr. Goel will advise the provost and president regarding faculty academic matters, disciplinary actions, academic processes and procedures, and other responsibilities as assigned. 

Dr. Goel is a respected scholar and researcher in the School of Business, where she has held positions of increasing responsibility, including chair of the Department of Information Systems and Supply Chain Management, and most recently as the associate dean of Academic Affairs. Additionally, Dr. Goel is the current academic lead for the Academic Excellence Review program. An expert in cybersecurity and cyber risk, she currently serves as director of the Howard University Cyber-Security Education and Research Center (CERC), a center she helped to establish in the School of Business. She has also served as a co-director of the Chair Leadership Academy and Summer Academy Faculty Scholar coach. 

Dr. Goel earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Millersville University, followed by a master’s degree in mathematics and a doctoral degree in information technology with a focus on information security from George Mason University. Her international experience includes serving as a Fulbright-Nehru Scholar in India where she conducted research and assisted in curriculum development in cybersecurity and as a cyber-security speaker in Malaysia as part of the U.S. Department of State’s International Information Programs.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank associate provost Kimberly Jones, who was recently appointed as the dean of the College of Engineering and Architecture. Please join me in congratulating Dr. Goel on her new role, and in wishing Dr. Jones success as she stewards the College of Engineering and Architecture into the future.
