Announcing New Members of the Howard University Board of Trustees

Dear Howard University Community,

The Howard University Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the election of Nandi Olive Leslie, Ph.D. (B.S. ’99) and Andrew Lindsay (B.S. ’01), to the University's Board of Trustees. Their terms officially began on July 1, 2026. Together, they bring extraordinary experience in artificial intelligence, technology innovation, cybersecurity, business strategy, and higher education leadership.

As the University continues to expand its leadership in research and innovation and prepare students for the future of work, these distinguished alumni will further strengthen the Board's collective expertise and strategic vision. 

Nandi Olive Leslie, Ph.D., is a principal technical fellow at RTX, the company's highest technical distinction, where she leads groundbreaking work in artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, and advanced research and development. Throughout her career, she has served in executive leadership positions as a chief data scientist, chief engineer, and technical solutions director while leading global research initiatives and advising government and industry partners. 

An internationally recognized applied mathematician, Dr. Leslie also serves as a trustee of Princeton University, an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University, and has contributed to numerous national scientific and engineering advisory committees. A proud Howard alumna, she earned her Bachelor of Science in mathematics from Howard before completing both her master's and doctoral degrees in applied and computational mathematics at Princeton University. 

Andrew Lindsay serves as corporate vice president of cloud and AI platforms business development at Microsoft, where he leads global strategy and partnerships across artificial intelligence, cloud computing, data platforms, and emerging technologies. Throughout his distinguished career, he has held executive leadership positions at Microsoft, HubSpot, Jawbone, McKinsey & Company, Merrill Lynch, and in the White House and U.S. House of Representatives. 

A passionate advocate for innovation and educational access, Lindsay co-founded Howard University's Center for Digital Business and has long championed initiatives that expand opportunities for students and strengthen the University's leadership in technology. He earned his Bachelor of Science in biology, summa cum laude, from Howard before receiving both his Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration from Harvard University.

The election of Dr. Nandi Olive Leslie and Andrew Lindsay reflect Howard University's continued commitment to assembling a Board of Trustees whose expertise spans the disciplines shaping the future—from artificial intelligence and cybersecurity to business innovation, research, and public service. 

Their leadership, vision, and dedication to Howard University's mission will help guide the institution as it continues to educate future leaders, expand its research enterprise, and advance excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.
