Dear Howard University Community,
As we look ahead to the 2026-2027 academic year, we want to ensure that our students and families have the information they need to plan with confidence. To support that goal, the tuition, room, and board rates for the upcoming academic year are now available on the Howard University website.
For 2026-2027, there will be no increase to undergraduate, graduate, nor professional tuition or mandatory fees. This decision reflects our deep commitment to preserving access to a Howard education while upholding the academic excellence and student experience that define our University. Modest adjustments were approved for select school-specific fees within the College of Dentistry, the College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences, and the School of Divinity.
Increases to housing and meal plan rates were also approved. These adjustments are necessary to address rising operational and utility costs, increased food prices, enhanced dining options, and upgrades to campus facilities.
Please view the full fee schedule for the 2026-2027 academic year in the Official Notice of Student Charges.
As we continue our work to support students across a wide range of financial circumstances, the Office of Financial Aid will carefully review change-in-circumstance appeals and remain focused on prioritizing need-based aid. Our goal is to sustain strategic investments in student support and initiatives that strengthen access, equity, and the overall Bison experience.
At the same time, we must share an important reality with transparency and care: The University’s capacity to offer additional or ad hoc financial support beyond our established aid programs is limited. Freezing tuition is one meaningful step toward easing financial pressure. However, the long-term stability of our aid programs depends upon ensuring our students and families plan responsibly to meet their financial obligations in a timely manner. As well, our long-term ability to sustain our aid programs and the level of excellence that drives our historic impact requires that we increase momentum around charitable giving, including among our alumni, partners, and friends of the University.
This shared commitment allows the University to continue providing the resources, faculty excellence, and transformative experiences that are unique to a Howard education. Above all, our commitment remains steadfast: to recruit, enroll, and graduate talented students — regardless of their financial background — and to support their success, well-being, and upward mobility.
Thank you for your trust and shared dedication to the mission and values of Howard University.
Excellence in Truth and Service,
