The university will close for the Winter Break beginning December 17, 2025, and remain closed through January 1, 2026.

The university will reopen on Friday, January 2, 2026, with remote operations for all non-instructional services.

Normal in-person operations will resume on Monday, January 5, 2026.

Essential Employees: Essential employees must report to campus.

Building Access: Some campus buildings will be secured and locked.

All other requests for staff to work during the closure are to be restricted to critical and time-sensitive activities in accordance with Howard University's policies and federal guidelines. These requests must be submitted using the campus closure form by the close of business on December 17, 2025.

Essential employees needing help accessing buildings should contact the Department of Public Safety (DPS) at (202) 806-1100. Physical Facilities Management will be available for urgent matters at (202)-806-1000.

Researchers will continue to have access to research facilities.
