Move-in is scheduled for August 7-20 and is expected to bring a high volume of excitement and enthusiasm to campus, along with increased density in vehicular and foot traffic. As valued members of our University community, we want to ensure that you are well-informed to safely and efficiently plan your daily commute to the campus during this period.

Parking Access for Staff:

During move-in, all university employees will have full access to their assigned parking lots. Employees must have a current daily, monthly, or annual permit displayed to enter the parking lot. However, please be aware that increased activity on and around campus may require you to arrive early to avoid potentially long wait times and congestion.

Closure of Greene Parking Lot:

The Greene parking lot will be closed on Monday, August 7, and Tuesday, August 8. The alternative parking lot for Greene permit holders is the Georgia Ave lot, next to Sankofa Bookstore. This closure is necessary to accommodate efficient traffic movement during the move-in process. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Parking Locations for Parents:

As parents and families accompany their freshmen to campus, they will be directed to park in the following areas:

  • East Tower
  • Howard Center
  • Banneker South
  • Drew Hall

Please remember the increased pedestrian activity in these areas during this period.

Assisting Students and Families:

As members of the University community, your support is invaluable in ensuring a warm welcome for our incoming Bison. If you encounter any parents or students seeking help during the move-in period, please take a moment to direct them to the appropriate locations or offer assistance as needed.

Community Spirit and Cooperation:

Along with homecoming and commencement, move-in is one of the signature events which showcases the community spirit of Howard University. We trust that you will take opportunities to engage with new families and help build the foundation for new students' professional and personal journeys.

Your kindness and dedication to Howard are deeply appreciated. We look forward to working together to create a seamless and joyful Move-In experience for our new students and their families.
