WASHINGTON – The 2019-2020 Gwendolyn S. and Colbert I. King Endowed Chair in Public Policy Lecture Series continues with the latest installment of its virtual series under the direction of veteran political strategist and author Donna Brazile as the Gwendolyn S. and Colbert I. King Endowed Chair in Public Policy.
On Thursday, April 16, 2020, at 11:30 a.m., Brazile will host Is America Ready to Get Back to Work?, a congressional update featuring U.S. Representative James E. Clyburn, House Majority Whip and the third-ranking Democrat in the United States House of Representatives. In coordination with WHUT-Howard University Television and WHUR 96.3 FM, the King Lecture Series can be viewed via livestreamed at https://www.whut.org/home/klsjamesclyburn/. All students, faculty and staff are invited to continue the conversation on social media, using the hashtag, #KingLectureSeries.
Majority Whip Clyburn came to Congress in 1993 to represent South Carolina’s sixth congressional district, before being elected co-president of his freshman class and quickly rising through leadership ranks. He was subsequently elected Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus, Vice Chair, and later Chair, of the House Democratic Caucus. Congressman Clyburn previously served as Majority Whip from 2007 to 2011 and served as Assistant Democratic Leader from 2011 to 2019.
