Kahlana Barfield Brown is a fashion authority and trusted voice in beauty and style. With a foundation in publishing and a sharp eye for what’s next, she has built a career rooted in authenticity, representation, and cultural impact.

Born in Seattle and shaped by her experience at Howard University, where she studied Journalism and Fashion Merchandising, Kahlana began her career at InStyle, rising from assistant beauty editor to beauty director during her decade at the magazine. As the fashion industry began to shift, she stepped into the spotlight to pursue her passion for design and storytelling on her own terms.

In 2022, she partnered with Target to launch Future Collective, a streetwear-inspired collection that reflected her personal style and resonated with a new generation of fashion lovers. Her 2024 collaboration with Nike, a custom Air Force 1 for the Yardrunners program, honored HBCU pride and quickly became a sought-after collector’s item.

In 2025, Kahlana introduced KBB by Kahlana, her own clothing brand and the next evolution of her vision. The line blends elevated essentials with intentional design, offering timeless pieces that empower women to express themselves with confidence and style.

A proud mother of two daughters, Kahlana draws daily inspiration from her family. Through KBB by Kahlana, she continues to champion individuality, amplify representation, and inspire women to lead with both purpose and style.
