Howard University Simulation & Clinical Skills Center Gets Spotlight During Global Simulation Week

WASHINGTON (September 12, 2019) – In honor of Global Healthcare Simulation Week (Sept. 16-20), Howard University's Simulation & Clinical Skills Center will hold an “Open House” event on Wednesday, Sept. 18, from noon to 2 p.m. The center is located in the Howard University College of Medicine, 520 W. Street NW, Seeley Mudd Building.

The Howard University Simulation & Clinical Skills Center is a state-of-the-art facility that serves nearly all of the 13 schools and colleges across campus. Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to tour the facility and meet the expert simulation professionals during the open house.

“Healthcare simulation is an outstanding learning tool that recreates the clinical environment and allows learners to experience realistic healthcare events,” says Tamara Owens, Ph.D., director of Simulation & Clinical Skills Center at Howard University. “The purpose of healthcare simulation is to teach new skills, refresh old ones, and improve the delivery of safe and effective patient care.”

The goal of the Global Healthcare Simulation Week is to increase awareness among the public of the importance of simulation to healthcare. The Global Healthcare Simulation Week is sponsored by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare
