WASHINGTON - Howard University has partnered with Greater Washington Partnership Capital CoLAB  to host an online career fair. Students will be able to meet virtually with recruiters from a number of the Capital Region’s leading companies, including: T. Rowe Price, Capital One, EY, Northrop Grumman, CIA, Deloitte. GDIT, Inova and others to discuss internship opportunities.

The Capital CoLab fair will take place Monday, September 21, 2020 between 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). The career fair is open to current undergraduate students.

Registration is currently open, and students are encouraged to reserve spots today. To register click here.

This online career fair will connect students directly with organizations via smartphones, home computers, or tablets. After signing in, students will be able to explore the available information and opportunities, and participate in one-on-one, text-based chats with representatives from participating organizations. Students are also encouraged to tune into live content during the career fair to hear from peers about virtual internship experiences, the impact of COVID-19 on student life, as well as about the Capital CoLAB Digital Tech Credential Program.

The Capital CoLAB Digital Tech Credential helps undergraduate students develop in-demand digital technology skills and access employment opportunities at leading Capital Region companies. In addition, the Capital CoLAB Digital Tech Credential is a way to signal to leading employers that you have key competencies for the modern workplace, such as data analysis, data visualization, and data security.

In partnership with Capital CoLAB, Howard University offers a six-course program for non-STEM majors to receive a Digital Tech Generalist Credential. The credential is accepted and recognized by all CoLAB companies as an indication of competence in positions that require digital skills. Enrolling and completing the digital tech credential program will give students a number of benefits including priority interviews for jobs and internships, mentoring/coaching opportunities, job shadowing, and one-on-one engagement with senior executives at CoLAB companies.

“We continue to be proud and grateful for our institutional relationship with the Greater Washington Partnership,” says Bruce Jones, Ph.D., vice president for research at Howard University. “Too often we idealize what is meant by partnership without ever realizing this ideal. The Greater Washington Partnership actually embodies partnership in action with, for example, the career and workforce opportunities that are provided to our students through the Capital CoLAB.”
