Bison Show Their Pride at the Athletics Pep Rally on College Colors Day

WASHINGTON – Howard University and the Athletics Department celebrated Bison Pride Amplified during a Pep Rally on College Colors Day, held Friday, August 30. Howard students, faculty and staff donned their Bison Blue to usher in the new school year and get ready for an exciting season of Bison sports.

“I am incredibly excited to start our Fall 2019 season with this kickoff event,” said Kery Davis, athletics director at Howard University. “Our Fall sports teams have been working hard all summer and it’s great to see this enthusiastic response from the student body. This will be a great year and I encourage all Bison fans to show and shout for Howard University!! HU! You know!”

Students and alumni crowded around the WHBC 96.3 FMHD3 student radio booth to swag surf, and play a round of games with the pep rally’s sponsor, Pepsi. The festivities led up to the soccer team’s season opener at Greene Stadium and served as a time to fellowship before the football team’s first season game against University of Maryland’s Terrapins at noon on Saturday, August 31.

This year’s College Colors Day serves as a great opportunity for fans to gear up in time for the 2019 Homecoming week festivities, occurring on October 5-13, which is another opportunity for the Howard community to support the University through official apparel purchases.

“Howard has an amazing brand that has been built over time and we must work to protect the brand of this university,” said Anisah Crosby, marketing manager for the Office of Auxiliary Enterprises at Howard University. “Additionally, royalties generated through the sale of collegiate merchandise go back to the university for scholarship and development opportunities. Therefore, it is important to support officially licensed Howard apparel brands and let the first stop be the university bookstore, online and when you’re on campus.”
