Dear Howard University Community
This year Howard University’s 148th Commencement Convocation is a ticketed event. Therefore, everyone entering Howard University’s campus on May 7, 2016, must have an official commencement ticket issued by Howard University. All visitors attending Commencement must show a ticket and proceed through security checkpoint before entering campus. Due to the high demand for tickets and limited space on the Upper Quadrangle, *satellite venues across campus will also be made available to accommodate as many attendees as possible. Both the Upper Quadrangle as well as the satellite venues will require a ticket. The Upper Quadrangle will be filled first then the ticket distribution will begin to fill up the additional satellite venues.
Access to the campus will open at 6:00 a.m. All individuals must be seated by 9:30 a.m. No access will be allowed on the Upper Quadrangle after 9:45 a.m. and everyone must be seated. No exceptions.
Children three years and younger do not need a ticket for entry. However, the child must sit on an adult’s lap during the ceremony without obstructing the view of any other guests.
Graduating Students Ticket DistributionThe graduating student must pick up Commencement tickets in person. HU Bison Student ID will be required to obtain tickets. Each graduating student who has been academically and financially cleared, will receive one ticket themselves and up to four (4) tickets maximum for family and friends. Tickets are not transferable. Graduating students should follow the ticket pick-up protocol already established by their respective school or college.
All Howard University (including Graduating) StudentsAll HU students including graduating students to request Commencement tickets please email,commencement@howard.edu. Graduating students will receive first priority with ticket distribution. Please include your student ID number when requesting tickets.
For general questions regarding Commencement activities and to request Commencement tickets (limit of 2 per person) please send an email to commencement@howard.edu. You will receive email confirmation if your ticket request has been granted. No telephone requests will be accepted.
HU Bison ID will be required to obtain tickets.

Faculty and StaffFaculty must inform their Dean if they will participate in this year’s commencement exercise. Faculty who will not participate in Commencement but are interested in attending should request tickets (limit of 2 per person) from their Dean.
Staff who are interested in attending should request tickets (limit of 2 per person) from their respective Cabinet officer.
Faculty and Staff Ticket Distribution - HU Bison ID will be required to obtain tickets.

Alumni, Community Partners, and Friends Ticket DistributionAlumni, Community Partners, and Friends should email their ticket requests (limit of 2 per person) tocommencement@howard.edu. If you are attending commencement in support of a graduating student, please identify that student by name and or HU Bison ID number. Tickets will be made available on a first-come, first-serve basis. A valid driver’s license or government-issued ID will be required to pick up tickets.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Howard University prohibits the direct or indirect sale or auction of All University Commencement tickets. Ticket(s) may not be used for advertising, promotion (including contests, giveaways or sweepstakes) or other trade or commercial purposes. Students, staff or faculty engaging in such activities, as well as any other activity that disrupts the administration of the ceremony and/or violates the University policies, will be subject to HU disciplinary sanctions, including without limitation the delayed issuance of a degree or diploma.
Visibly obscene, indecent or inappropriate clothing will be prohibited from being brought into the Commencement area. There is no storage area for the items below. No exceptions.
Guests may not carry the following into the Commencement Venue:• Any bag larger than 16 inches by 16 inches by 8 inches• Hard-sided bags or containers of any size• Glass, cans, aluminum bottles or thermoses• Laser pens• Selfie sticks• Mono/tripods or other professional camera equipment• Drones• Laptop computer,• Firearms, knives or weapons of any kind• Alcohol• Illegal drugs or substances• Brooms, poles, staffs or sticks• Baseball bats of any size• Hover boards• Television sets, excluding television substitutes such as tablets• Animals, with the exception of service animals to aid guests with disabilities• Air horns or other distracting noisemaker• Helmets (e.g., bicycle helmets, motorcycle helmets or baseball helmets), masks or costumes• Projectiles (e.g., flying discs or beach balls)• Aerosol cans (e.g., mace, pepper spray, hairspray or sunscreen)• Confetti or glitter• Fireworks• Video cameras or other equipment designed for the sole purpose of video and/or audio recording
Will Call Ticket Requests for Students, Alumni, Community Partners and Friends
If you are unable to pick up tickets during the Designated Days and Times, you may place your request will call status, and pick up your tickets on Friday prior to the Commencement Ceremony. Will call tickets will be available for pick-up on Friday, May 6, 2016, at the Cramton Auditorium from 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Ticket request via email will begin Wednesday, April 20, 8:30 a.m. thru Friday, April 22, closing at 2:00 p.m. Howard University will make every attempt to honor as many request as space allows; however, making a request for tickets does not guarantee admission to the 148th Commencement Convocation.
