Biography
Micah Watkins is a biology major, triple minoring in chemistry, Spanish, and Afro-American studies, from Memphis, Tennessee. After finishing her undergraduate studies, Watkins aims to earn her MD/PhD in the field of obstetrics and gynecology to become a clinically practicing OB/GYN and conduct molecular biology research as it pertains to infertility. Watkins chose to embark upon her educational journey at Howard University because of the university’s sense of community, successful alumni, and devotion to producing leaders in all disciplines. She chose to enter the STEM arena at an elementary age because of her love for learning and discovering knowledge. Since beginning her matriculation into Howard, Watkins has begun undergraduate research with the Thompson Bacterial Genetics Laboratory, and she plans to continue throughout her undergraduate career. She is eager to expand her research horizon so she may find unorthodox solutions to real-world problems in obstetrics and gynecology.
