Biography

Devon Mooring is a biology student from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with a double minor in chemistry and journalism. He plans to obtain a PhD in microbiology with the goal of contributing to research in infectious diseases and the microbiome. In addition to his interest in research, Mooring is passionate about science communication. He strongly believes that access to scientific knowledge should be universal, and not limited by one's educational background. Through his efforts in making science approachable and understandable to all, he strives to bridge the gap between complex scientific concepts and public understanding. Mooring is driven by the hope that his work will inspire the next generation of scientists, much like how science communicators have profoundly influenced his own path in science.
