Biography
Ayanna Mann is a Physics Major from Aurora, Illinois by way of Detroit, Michigan. She aspires to pursue a career in research and development, eventually becoming a lead researcher in Astrophysics and Quantum Physics. Mann chose a STEM related discipline because of her constant desire to learn more about the world we live in. She lives by the motto “The Only thing I Know 100% is that I know nothing 100%”, which drives her passion for finding more through the exploration of physics. She believes physics is the center of all natural science and feels when one discovers a foundation it allows growth, an understanding she hopes to expand as a future researcher. Mann chose Howard because she wanted to be surrounded by driven Black leaders determined to make change like herself. The lack of Black women representation she saw growing up is one of her primary influences for entering the field. Mann plans to optimize her success so she can be a role model for youth to pursue their dreams without fear. Ayanna wants to instill the same passion in the new generation that she had growing up, inspiring them to navigate their desires as a fearless generation of STEM achievers.
