Biography

Ava Conyer is a Biology student from Burlington, New Jersey. She is dedicated to obtaining an MD-PhD and aims to do research about and practice medicine in the specialty of dermatology. Conyer believes that the skin can be a window into many underlying conditions, and as such, dermatology is necessary, because skin directly impacts the self-confidence and quality of life of many people. She selected a STEM field because she has been fascinated with exploring phenomena since her early childhood and believes that research allows her to contribute to society in a meaningful way. She hopes to conduct research that will help address disparities in health care felt by minority communities across the United States and the world, particularly related to topics that disproportionately affect minority patients.
