Biography

Fatima Shaikh is a Biology major with a concentration in child and maternal health, and a minor in Chemistry from Columbia, Maryland. She has a passion for community service within underprivileged communities and will be pursuing an MD/Ph.D. Fatima would like to go into research involving genetics, more precisely finding ways to improve the genetic conditions which many people endure today, as well as joining the medical field as an obstetrician/gynecologist. She strives to use her research and medical specialty to help those in underprivileged communities around the world and be an inspiration to women looking into research and the medical field. Fatima chose Howard University for the many resources and opportunities available. Her choice to pursue STEM was inspired by her natural passion and the importance of the field in advancing society today.
