Biography
Kristin Lewis is a sophomore biology major with a minor in environmental studies from Deptford, New Jersey. Her ultimate career goal is to earn a Ph.D. in marine biology and become a research scientist focused on combating climate change, specifically in an aquatic environment. Lewis hopes to work in a career that combines her interest in ocean sciences with her knowledge of environmental issues. She plans to reach her goal by opening her own marine research and rehabilitation facility after obtaining her doctoral degree. Lewis chose Howard University because of its vast opportunities and connections that were offered, as well as the personality of the student body. She felt Howard University could support her academic interests and help her grow as a person. Lewis chose a major in biology because of her long interest in marine biology and ocean sciences. She has always had an affinity for aquatic animals, and she hopes to be a beacon for young Black students that share her passion in career goals.
