Biography
Esau Hutcherson is a Computer Science and Philosophy double major from Snellville, Georgia. Hutcherson is deeply passionate about esoteric computer science topics, and he is interested in the cross-section of quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and ethics. His career interest is to pursue a Ph.D. in computer science, in addition to conducting research in quantum computing, as it relates to complex human behaviors and biases that are embedded in machine learning algorithms. One of Hutcherson's research goals is merging artificial intelligence with philosophical principles to determine if consciousness can be programmed into smart digital devices. With the rise of artificial intelligence and machine learning, Hutcherson understands the importance of eradicating racial biases in data generation processes to implement smarter and ethical AI algorithms. Esau chose Howard University because of the vibrant culture, strong commitment to STEM, and the dedication to service that is present at the institution.
