Active Shooter, Active Threats Training - Feb. 15
The Department of Public Safety will offer an active shooter and active threats training session on Tuesday, February 15 in the College Hall South Auditorium from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Small Electrical Fire - College Hall South
At approximately 4:30 a.m., D.C. Fire officials were notified of a fire alarm in College Hall South. An investigation reveals that a resident using a labeled out-of-order dryer caused a small electrical fire in a laundry room and a resulting evacuation of all students.
Emergency Management Community Update
The Emergency Management division of the Department of Public Safety is providing you with very specific guidance on readiness during events with the potential for danger, including severe weather, natural disasters, active violence, civil unrest, or large-scale threats to life and property.

Announcing Campus Closure for Mental Health Day
Recent events, from the persistence of the COVID-19 pandemic to the multiple bomb threats issued against our institution, have taken a toll on all members of our community. I am grateful for all the messages of support I know that we have received from friends, family and advocates of our University who live around the world during these difficult times. In recognition of the additional challenges that have been heaped upon our shoulders, Howard University will close on Friday, February 4 and will reopen for normal operations on Monday, February 7.

Town Hall Recording & COVID Update - 2.2.22
As a result of the recent bomb threats to the University and at least 19 other historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), we conducted a Howard University community town hall Tuesday evening on very short notice. Nearly 1,000 faculty, staff, students and parents joined to hear updates regarding the events that unfolded on campus (and around the nation), receive a status report from University officials, and understand what additional measures are being implemented to protect our community. An active investigation is being led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), supported by various local, regional and federal organizations. Towers West - Activated Sprinkler System Update
At approximately 3:58 a.m., D.C. Fire officials were notified of an activated sprinkler system in Howard Plaza Towers West. Preliminary details from the active investigation reveal that a small fire was caused by an unauthorized cooking device turned on by residents while they were doing hair.
