Update for First Time In College Students

Dear Incoming Student,

Recently all Howard University students received a survey that included questions about their fall course schedule.  Because many of our new students have not yet received their schedules, you may not have the information necessary to respond.  It is very important that all students respond to the survey.  Therefore, please note that most of our first-year classes will be offered online and it is unlikely you will be scheduled for an in-person class. Moreover, all in-person classes will also be available online, so if you are scheduled for an in-person class, you can choose to take it remotely.

We recommend the following responses to the survey questions about your schedule:

  • I will be enrolled in five classes (most first-year students enroll in five courses at three credit hours each for a total of 15 credit hours)
  • My classes will be online

This is the most accurate response, at this time, and likely a true reflection of your final schedule.

Academic advisers are currently working on new student schedules.  Many of your schedules are already posted on Bison Web, however the remaining schedules will be posted by July 31st.  Your schedule as it currently appears on Bison Web is “in-progress” and may be modified through July 31st– due to approved transfer credit, AP or IB credits, changes in courses offered, etc.

Please note that students will not be automatically excluded from on-campus housing because they have a fully online schedule.

As a resource, a Howard University directory of academic advisers is attached.

We hope you are enjoying the final weeks of summer and look forward to a productive and engaging fall semester!

Excellence in Truth and Service,
