Washington, DC – [Monday, August 10, 2026] – Project 68 (P68) today announced the launch of its Impact Hubs, a fellowship program designed to develop the next generation of Black storytellers, trusted messengers, and civic leaders in our community. The program’s pilot Hub kicks off in partnership with Howard University: P68 Impact Hub x Howard University.

P68’s Impact Hubs are campus-embedded media ecosystems that incubate and develop media to inform news-avoidant audiences. A paid fellowship program, the Impact Hubs equips student creator cohorts with editorial development, mentorship, production support, and direct industry relationships, strengthening their storytelling, growing their platforms, and expanding their impact. Impact Hub fellows will produce short-form content, podcasts, shows, live activations, and in-person social events, preserving Black narratives through culturally grounded storytelling.

How fortunate for our students to have this opportunity to learn and develop with the guidance of one of the best.”

 The Impact Hub x Howard University will identify and support emerging storytellers, creators, journalists, and trusted voices already rooted within HBCU communities. It will also activate the university's existing communications ecosystem, student creators, journalism programs, newspapers, podcasts, radio, and communications departments, unifying them into one coordinated narrative infrastructure.

"Creating opportunities that give back to students at Howard, an institution that helped shape who I am, has always been a personal mission,” said Darryl Banks, executive director of P68. “Combined with a spiritual purpose to serve and a platform P68 has worked to build over the past few years, creating the Impact Hub x Howard felt like a natural calling. As efforts to erase Black culture and history continue to grow, investing in our future leaders and cultural messengers is not just important; it is urgent. This is the pipeline, an investment in the very purpose HBCUs were created to serve."

P68’s Impact Hubs will ultimately extend beyond campus by connecting HBCUs, colleges, and universities to regional media ecosystems and surrounding communities, positioning them as anchor institutions for narrative power and civic engagement at scale. Howard is the first university partnership for P68's Impact Hubs. The organization will launch additional Hubs in states across the country in the coming months.
