“Writing this book has been a labor of love. We know far too little about Toni Morrison as editor. But her influence on the publishing industry cannot be overstated. She was a force,” says Dean Williams. “Today, with still too few Black editors at mainstream houses, it’s critically important that we understand what it means to midwife a generation of writers and to be a keeper of culture.”
