The Howard University community came together on the Main Yard on April 15 for the annual Bison Wellness Day (BWELL), a campus-wide event dedicated to promoting health, prevention, and overall well-being. Held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the event provided free health screenings and wellness resources to students, faculty, and staff. More than 100 participants took advantage of services designed to support early detection and encourage healthier lifestyles.

Attendees had access to a variety of screenings, including vision, blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, dental, prostate-specific antigen (PSA), and HIV testing. In addition, wellness stations offered information on key health topics such as women’s and men’s health, nutrition, skin and hair care, and healthy living practices. Healthcare professionals from the Howard University College of Medicine and the Howard University Faculty Practice Plan were on hand to engage directly with participants, answering questions, providing education, and offering guidance to support long-term wellness.

Hayes-Dixon, MD, FACS, vice president of health affairs and dean of the College of Medicine. “By bringing these services directly to our campus, we are empowering individuals to take an active role in their health and well-being.”
