Kevin Linder, Howard University Faculty Ombudsperson

WASHINGTON – Howard University is proud to announce the appointment of Kevin Linder, J.D., MSW, as the new faculty ombudsperson.

Linder, a seasoned attorney and social worker with over 25 years of experience, brings a wealth of expertise in conflict resolution, mediation, and employee advocacy to the role. Prior to joining Howard, he served as associate ombuds and certified mediator for Denver Colorado Public Schools, where he supported over 13,000 employees in accessing resources, navigating conflicts, and addressing systemic challenges.

Linder’s distinguished educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University, a Juris Doctorate from Washington University, and a Master of Social Work from the University of Georgia.

In his new role as faculty ombudsperson, Linder will assist faculty members with questions, complaints, or disputes related to University policies and procedures. His work will supplement, but not replace, the existing conflict resolution structures in place at the University. Linder’s appointment aligns with Howard University’s commitment to fostering a collaborative and supportive academic environment.

“We are pleased to have someone with Kevin’s unique combination of legal and social work expertise to support our faculty in navigating any concerns or conflicts that may arise,” said Anthony K. Wutoh, Ph.D., R.Ph., provost and chief academic officer. “His role as faculty ombudsperson will be pivotal in helping our faculty resolve issues in a constructive and productive manner.”

The Faculty Ombudsperson will provide regular updates to the provost and chair of the Faculty Senate and will report through the Office of the President. The Office of the Faculty Ombudsperson is located at the UNCF Building, 1805 Seventh Street NW, Suite #713, Washington, DC 20001.
