WASHINGTON, D.C. – Howard University’s women’s basketball team is proud to enter the second year of its partnership with Black Girl Vitamins, a leading wellness brand dedicated to advancing health equity for Black women. The team, coming off an exciting 68-56 win over Providence College Tuesday night, will open home play at Burr Gymnasium Saturday, Nov. 8, hosting Florida A&M. Tipoff for the game, which will have a Mecca Rodeo theme, is 2 p.m. It will be preceded by a street festival along 6th Avenue NW, where students and alumni are encouraged to come dressed in their country finest and stay for the game to support the preseason favorites to win the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
The collaboration with Black Girl Vitamins unites two forces rooted in empowerment, excellence, and community. Through this partnership, Black Girl Vitamins will provide wellness support, product access, and educational resources to Howard’s student-athletes, reinforcing the importance of holistic health — both on and off the court.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Black Girl Vitamins in support of our women’s basketball program,” said Head Coach Ty Grace. “This partnership speaks directly to our mission of nurturing student-athletes who excel in competition, in the classroom, and in life. Together, we’re helping to sustain wellness as a foundation for excellence.”
Grace said the Bison enter the 2025-2026 season with determination, experience, and momentum. After making history in the 2024-2025 season with its first home postseason game, a 72-62 win over Siena College, the team is poised for another postseason run — and this new partnership will help ensure players have the tools and support to stay strong throughout the season.
“At Black Girl Vitamins, our mission is to affirm and invest in the well-being of Black women everywhere,” said Jennifer Juma, chief strategy officer and head of partnerships at Black Girl Vitamins. “Partnering with Howard University and particularly with these outstanding young women athletes who embody confidence, purpose, and resilience — reflects the power of health as a form of empowerment.”
The partnership will include brand activations during select home games, products, wellness workshops for student-athletes, and community engagement initiatives that highlight the intersection of sports, health, and sisterhood.
Since its launch in 2021, Black Girl Vitamins has partnered with leading experts to formulate science-backed supplements specifically designed to support the health and wellness of Black women. Available on Amazon and through the brand’s website, the company is committed to closing the health equity gap by ensuring Black women have access to vital nutrients. Beyond providing supplements, Black Girl Vitamins actively uplifts the community through strategic collaborations with medical professionals, a $100,000 scholarship fund supporting women pursuing healthcare careers, and partnerships with organizations dedicated to advancing health and well-being in Black communities.
Because of its mission, partnering with Black Girl Vitamins was a natural fit, Grace said.
“Our players are excited to represent a brand that shares their values,” Grace said. “Black Girl Vitamins understands that wellness is more than performance — it’s about identity, strength, and pride. This partnership is a perfect fit for The Mecca.”
As the Bison prepare to tip off another season, the collaboration with Black Girl Vitamins underscores Howard University’s ongoing commitment to empowering Black women — through education, athletics, and holistic well-being.
