Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel Holds Services During Howard University Homecoming with Call to Chapel on Oct. 11 and Oct. 18

WASHINGTON – The Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel at Howard University is pleased to welcome two esteemed pastors, educators and visionary leaders as guest speakers for the official Howard University Homecoming Call to Chapel services. The Rev. Dr. Dharius Daniels, founder and lead pastor of Change Church, will serve as the guest speaker for the service beginning at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11. The Rev. Dr. Frederick D. Haynes, III, senior pastor of Friendship-West Baptist Church, will join Rankin Chapel as the guest speaker for the service beginning at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18, the final day of Howard University Homecoming week. He is an innovative leader, a strategic thinker and an articulate and prolific preacher. He is the founder and lead pastor of Change Church, a vibrant ministry that impacts people of all ages, socioeconomic classes and ethnic backgrounds. Daniels earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss., a Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, N.J., and a Doctorate of Ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, Calif. He is also a certified personal coach who speaks at seminaries and churches across the country.

Haynes is a prophetic pastor and passionate leader. He is also a social justice activist, eloquent orator, published author and educator who has served for 37 years as a visionary and innovative senior pastor at Friendship-West Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. Haynes has received numerous awards and honors for his ministry and activism. In 2011, he served as the featured speaker at The Congressional Black Caucus’ Annual Prayer Breakfast. In 2012, Ebony Magazine named him to its Power 100 list of most influential African Americans. He has been inducted into the National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame, and in 2013, he provided remarks at the memorial service of one of the most respected world leaders of the 20th and 21st centuries, President Nelson Mandela. Haynes earned a bachelor’s degree in religion and English from Bishop College in Dallas, Texas.; a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas; and a Doctorate of Ministry from the Graduate Theological Foundation in Mishawaka, Ind.
