Dear Howard University Community,

In keeping with the Board of Trustee’s goal of hearing from a wide array of stakeholders and as a way to continue to inform our University priorities, commitments and actions, the board has moved forward with inviting the elected leadership of the Faculty Senate, alumni association and undergraduate and graduate student associations to represent their constituent groups at the committee level. As such, we are pleased to share the following updates: 

• Charlie Lewis, Howard University Alumni Association president, is scheduled to be present as a voting member at  the Development and Alumni Relations Committee meeting on Wednesday, November 3. 
• Kylie Burke, Howard University Student Association president, and Ashley Grey, Graduate Student Council president, are scheduled to be present as voting members at the Student Life Committee meeting on Thursday, November 4.
• Professor Marcus Alfred, head of the Faculty Senate, was invited to participate as a voting member at the Academic Excellence Committee meeting on Thursday, November 4, but he has declined to participate.

In addition to committee level meetings, the board will continue to host open conversations across our University community because we understand the value of all perspectives. We greatly value the ideas, opinions, questions, concerns and criticisms because we know they will make this University a stronger place.
