Student on Runway

This year, the annual Howard University Homecoming Fashion Show, titled “Roots,” was created by student Madison Star Brim. “Roots” was a complete success and showcased high end designers along with student designed brands.

“Roots” showcased black culture along with the diversity of students that is Howard University. Special guest designer brand Dapper Dan Gucci headlined the show.  The fashion show also included seven Howard designers, including Ron David, HHouse 444, Disciples, and Bryan Lewin. During the intermission the audience was greeted by Justin Combs, the son of Sean “Diddy” Combs, along with artists Niko Brim and Kai Cash. Following intermission, special guest designer brand MCM Worldwide was showcased. Other designer brands featured included Macy’s, Adidas, and Champion.

Brim ended the show with a motivating speech, reminding the audience that, “No matter where we are from, black people we are excellent…the possibilities are endless and only you can determine what is possible for you. Through our diversity there is tremendous strength.”
