For 157 years, Howard University has served as the nexus of intellectual engagement and social advocacy to ensure that all Americans can fully exercise all the rights of citizenship. Howard alumni include first Black U.S. vice president, Supreme Court justice, popularly elected U.S. senator, popularly elected U.S. governor, and mayors of New York City, Washington, DC, and Atlanta, among numerous other luminaries which include three secretaries of federal agencies.
